The Flourish team sets up for an internal tasting event
Food has long been known as a powerful tool for bringing people together and fostering a sense of community. In the workplace, it can significantly impact employee retention, morale and productivity – something every employer wants. With over seven years of working alongside corporate businesses, we dive deeper into the three ways bespoke in-house catering increases productivity in the workplace.
Boosts morale
One key benefit we’re noticing is the ability of food to boost employee morale and overall job satisfaction. In a world where retention rates are staggeringly low, and turnover is at an all-time high, it has become clear that employees who feel valued and appreciated are more likely to be engaged and motivated in their work. Offering foodie-themed days, such as national pancake day, Italian pasta day, sushi day, and holiday lunches, help to change up the day-to-day, leaving employees happy and fulfilled knowing that their employers are putting in the operational work to deliver something meaningful. Offering nutritious lunches, after-work drinks, and onsite events, all done by Flourish, is a tried and tested way to demonstrate employee recognition. It’s a win-win situation.
Builds relationships
On average, we spend more time working with our colleagues than face-to-face with anyone else, which means positive relationships are essential in the workforce as they increase productivity.
By providing meals and snacks and hosting events for employees, companies encourage their workforce to take a break, relax, regroup and interact with their colleagues. It’s a time for people to mingle across departments, catch up on past conversations and collaborate on upcoming projects. If your company also focuses heavily on recruitment and ensuring a smooth integration of new employees, getting everyone around a table helps to put newcomers at ease.
Optimises output
If you’re feeding your employees healthy meals packed with the right balance of protein, fats and carbohydrates, you’re contributing to overall employee productivity. Rather than grabbing a quick cheddar and pickle sandwich with a side of crisps, which often results in the 2 pm slump, why not fuel them with meals packed with feel-good ingredients? When employees are well-fed, they are more likely to be focused, alert and motivated. Who doesn’t want this for their workforce?
If introducing in-house catering is a solution to improving productivity, why aren’t more employers offering this?
It could be that a one-size-fits-all approach, often offered by large catering companies, doesn’t fit the company culture.
This is why Flourish was created. To offer bespoke catering specific to the company. Our chefs pride themselves on making fresh, exciting meals where all menus are unique.
Our Flourish team is in the kitchen first thing in the morning, making anything from breakfast to lunch, canapés to mains. They serve anywhere from 200-1000 meals on any given day, which are then delivered directly to a client’s office and set up by a Flourish General Manager (GM) and front-of-house team. The GM will work with the internal operations team to create bespoke menus, plan internal events during or outside working hours, and ensure that dietary requirements are met. We oversee it all, so you don’t have to.
It’s a simple recipe, really. Flourish adds delicious meals, mixes in events, and contributes to the company’s highly productive workforce. Skip on generic catering and opt for Flourish – we’ll look after your team.
